Description:

Consider this the silliest idea we’ve been sitting on for a while. Just like people sorta do with their full strength barley wines. Firstly we don’t advise that, the heat coming off a high abv full strength bwine is why folks age them a couple years. The malt selection is how we carry out this gnarly brew. Featuring maris otter, pearl barley, biscuit malt, abbey malt and flaked barley. Again everything intentional whether or not that’s conventional.

Barley wine sits in two camps typically. American and English, this one leans to the latter. I’d of loved to hop the shit out of it but that’s never typically the goal. I did mash hop UK Target hops and only used those sparingly in the boil. They give a subtle oak and orange pith nose that feels reminiscent of the leaded counterpart. English typically has a smidge more restraint on finishing bitterness. That can allow the malt character to be more of the focal point.

The orange marmalade nose pulls yah in and you are abruptly shown how viscus and vicious this Non Alcoholic offering is. Absolutely full in its mid section, this gnarly number is big. However it finishes smooth and rotund. I’m not saying it’s fat, but its big malt boned. Where does that get us then? The biggest non offering we’ve been crazy enough to take on. Pouring through our self care reviews out there, we are typically praised for body and feeling like the real thing. So I guess we wanna take that one to the extreme a bit.

WARNING: similar to many juices, kombucha, and other beverages you'll find in the grocery store, this product has not been pasteurized, and therefore may contain harmful bacteria that can cause serious illness in children, the elderly, and persons with weakened immune systems.
PLEASE NOTE: like other beverage industries have been doing for centuries, we mitigate the potential for bacterial growth in other ways, rather than to pasteurize and destroy the nuanced flavors that make our beer stand out from many pasteurized non-alcoholic beer offerings, though we do acknowledge pasteurization is the most effective way to inhibit bacterial growth, or potential for refermentation in the can. Risk may be exacerbated by prolonged warm storage, so to mitigate risk, always cold-store Self Care immediately upon receipt, and avoid exposure to extreme heat.
