Kühnheit Festbier
Name: Kühnheit
Style: Festbier
ABV: Less than 0.5% ABV
Quantity: 4pack/16oz. cans
Description: The German word kühnheit translates to "audacity" in English. And, oh, boy were we freaking audacious when brewing this beer. Big time. So much so that we bent the mold of what a Festbier should be - just a little bit - in order to make this beer special.
We started with a fully traditional festbier water profile and grain bill, but rather than use traditional German hops, we feature the hop Audacia. Exclusively grown in Oregon at Indie Hops, this hop's lineage is sehr gute (very good). The hop is bred from Hersbrucker, a timeless German lager hop, and is also a relative of Strata, which does the heavy lifting in many modern IPAs. In fact, Audacia has also become quite the popular IPA hop itself over the last few years.
With a classic orange hue and bready warmth, the depth of such a light beer is welcoming for sessionable enjoyments. And while this beer would be delicious with a salty pretzel, or a brautwurst with spicy mustard and kraut (yum yum!), you could really pair it with just about anything food wise, and it will shine.
So go out and hunt for a Bavarian beer mug at a thrift store (if you don’t already have one), and make a go of it. Beer purity laws still exist in Deutschland, so they might not let this one in due to our blasphemous hop varietal usage. So keep it stateside and enjoy it with friends.
Prost!
