Brewer's Notes: Bumbershoot. It’s back. And its tweaked a bit. And it keeps getting better. We like to think you could say the same thing about this year's Bumberbrew.
Abstractly designed with an undeniable influence from the iconic Pacific Northwest bands we grew up listening to, we themed this year as a "PNW IPA". Using only ultra premium pilsner malt and PNW flaked barley in the mash, we follow trend in building a light crispy body of a beer to riff with Oregon and Washington grown hops - Zappa, Mosaic, Cascade and the Experimental 218.
The nose is clean and floral, but on the palate it is full volume citrus and pine, all staying grounded with a pleasant earthiness. It's fairly clear, unfiltered, and light in color - but by no means is lacking in flavor!
This non-alcoholic beer will be available at most Bumbershoot beverage stations alongside other non-alcoholic offerings. And whether you are non-alc all the time, or use Self Care NA beers to pace yourself between leaded offerings - Bumberbrew is the perfect companion to keep you cool and clear-headed so that you can enjoy (and remember) an iconic weekend of music and art in the beautiful Pacific Northwest!
Bumberbrew is a collaboration with Third Stone, a nonprofit arts and education organization founded in Seattle in 2022, with a mission to help foster an inclusive, energized, and sustainable arts economy in the Pacific Northwest through youth education, festival, spectacle, and community driven programming.
Third Stone aims to elevate and transform Bumbershoot via their Four Pillars: Education, Community, Art, and Access, while continuing to honor the essential characteristics of the Bumbershoot legacy.
WARNING: similar to many juices, kombucha, and other beverages you'll find in the grocery store, this product has not been pasteurized, and therefore may contain harmful bacteria that can cause serious illness in children, the elderly, and persons with weakened immune systems.
PLEASE NOTE: like other beverage industries have been doing for centuries, we mitigate the potential for bacterial growth in other ways, rather than to pasteurize and destroy the nuanced flavors that make our beer stand out from many pasteurized non-alcoholic beer offerings, though we do acknowledge pasteurization is the most effective way to inhibit bacterial growth, or potential for refermentation in the can. Risk may be exacerbated by prolonged warm storage, so to mitigate risk, always cold-store Self Care immediately upon receipt, and avoid exposure to extreme heat.
