Detailed Beer Descriptions:
• 2X SHADES OF GREEN - FRESH HOPPED BLACK IPA
Centennial is one of the first hops to hit the kilns each season in Washington and Oregon—but timing is everything. Crop years shift in profile, and the pick window makes or breaks the beer. From years of chasing this hop since 2011, I’ve found Oregon’s later window (if you dodge the rain in those two or three days before harvest) yields something incredible.
This year we married that timing with a style a few loyal fans have been clamoring for: the Black IPA. It pours jet black with flashes of ruby at the edges, carrying a nose where hops and roasted malt meet in balance. That fresh Centennial lays down floral and pine notes, which wonderfully complement the black coffee, char, and burnt toast nose. The creamy body roast on one side and the layered bitterness of that fresh hop bite on the other, lock together seamlessly.
We loaded in over 1.5 pounds of wet Centennial per case, so there is no missing that fresh-hop punch. It’s rare to see this much green in a black beer, and yet here it is. Shadows and brightness all in one glass.
Drink it fresh. Don’t let it get lost in the fridge. This one’s meant to shine right now.
• 2X FRESH HOP BOHEMIAN PILS - FRESH HOPPED PILS (BOHEMIAN)
Here's a classic we hadn’t slotted into the lineup for a while, and brought back with a fresh twist.
Brewed true to Czech tradition with authentic ingredients and methods, the Fresh Hop Bohemian Pils layers in fresh-picked Crystal hops from Crosby Farms in Oregon. What you get is the familiar noble profile that's clean, floral, refined—that’s then lifted by a grassy, herbaceous edge from the fresh hops.
Crystal pushes a bright lemony citrus tone, while a late addition of Saaz hop extract (from one of our favorite producers, now processing the variety for the first time) adds the brewer’s kiss in the brite tank. The result is a heightened bouquet of floral notes draped over a simple base of single-floor-malted barley.
This is a brewer’s beer. A non-alcoholic aficionado’s side-pull secret. A taproom wink.
Na zdraví!
• OCTOBERFEST- FESTBIER
Brewer's Notes: This year’s iteration leans into the celebrated lighter side of the style. With so much overlap (and a fair bit of ambiguity) around what defines a "festbier," we took our cue from a Helles, built on the quality of German base malt (thank you, German Maltster Weyermann) with a few specialty additions to paint the corners and deepen the profile. It’s a beer that thrives in simplicity.
Perfect for steins, easy in a shaker pint, and fantastic straight from the can, it’s a do-anything, go-anywhere kind of NA companion. Think less bitterness than our pilsner offerings, more malt character, and just enough nuance to invite another pour.
Bright, floral, lightly sweet, with a crackery edge, this beer carries the aspirations of Bavaria while being brewed in little Olympia. Tradition and innovation have always defined German brewing, and we’re proud to channel both in this year’s release.
Prost!
