This brew is in partnership with the Cascade Crest 100, a 100-mile ultra through Washington's beautiful and brutal Cascade Mountains, and also Speedland out of Portland, known for their innovative trail shoes. Talk about a trifecta: an absolutely killer trail, some killer trail shoes, and a killer trail pale. We at Self Care are more of the biking type, but our beertender did do a half-marathon, and we think that counts for something…
The vision (once we got the sweat out of our eyes just from thinking about the ultra marathon) is a finely crafted pale ale that tips its cap to the Cascades and satiates the craving after a job well done. Brewed with a new pilsner malt developed in the PNW for hoppy beers; little hits of Vienna and malted oats akin to tasteful color pops on a new pair of kicks; balanced bittering from Magnum highlighted with Azacca, Nugget, Vera, Cascade (of course we had to include it); and Dolcita hop oil in the bright.
It's got everything classic for a pale, with a standout freshness from two newer hops (Dolcita and Vera), and light pine and floral notes from the Nugget and Cascade. Those more familiar with our brews will catch some mango, pear, and cara orange too!
